La Pilotta, a sustainable museum
As a 21st century museum, whose mission is cultural sustainability which is necessarily environmental, the Pilotta is included in the KilometroVerdeParma project, conceived by Franco Maria Ricci, supported by numerous companies in the city and headed by Davide Bollati, president of the Davines group.
The aim is to plant trees extensively which, by screening the industrial areas on the motorway side, also represents a means of reducing CO2 generated by production activities.
The Complex, which consumes approximately 960,000 kWh and 1,750 MWh per year due to the operation of the machinery essential for preventive conservation, in addition to the ongoing energy efficiency measures, is working with this project towards the goal of becoming the first zero-impact Italian museum by 2022.
A laboratory for public administrations, the institute would thus like to be an example of good practices for the new generations, according to a perfect coherence between public ethics and museum discourse based on the problems inherent in the nature/culture relationship.
