Incunabula

Table of contents

Description

Like the manuscripts, the incunabula of the Parma collection were acquired through various means (purchases, confiscations following the suppression of convents, exchanges); with a few exceptions, the collection has collected all the copies acquired by Paciaudi and his successors; among them, the unique copy of the Alfabeto printed by Damiano da Moyle around 1480, numerous editions printed in Parma and some editiones principes such as that of the commentary on Petrarca’s Triumphs attributed to Filelfo, printed by Andrea Portilia in 1473.
Similarly to what happened with the manuscripts, the incunabula of the Palatino collection were also part of the library of the Bourbons of Lucca and were separated from it and placed separately from the rest of the texts that were part of that library.
