Spazio Welcoming, the project created by Ciac onlus – Centro immigrazione asilo e difesa onlus for the reception and orientation of new citizens and asylum seekers which, in collaboration with the Complesso della Pilotta , has been proposing for two years a series of monthly meetings dedicated to the knowledge of the monumental spaces of the Complex, with meeting and moments of conviviality in the Giardino della Cavallerizza to encourage the development of social and community relations.
Accompanied on the visits by volunteers of the Friends of the Pilotta , the participants are guided to discover the Monumental Complex, its spaces and its collections. The meetings are held in Italian to create a sense of belonging to the territory and if necessary, according to the prevalent nationality of the participants, they are translated within the group into English or French, thanks to the presence of cultural mediators from the Ciac association.
The initiative, which sees the participation of people of different ages and cultures, has been very successful in past editions; in fact, having overcome some initial discomfort, the spaces and works of the Complex, expertly illustrated by the volunteers of the Friends of the Pilotta, have aroused enthusiasm and curiosity on the part of the participants, who felt like active protagonists of what they were seeing and listening to.
Since September, the project has been enriched with new opportunities for dialogue and sharing between different cultures, also involving the new citizens of Parma, who have been living in the city for a longer time and who attend the Italian language school for foreigners.
