Lighting works at the National Gallery

Due to various necessary lighting works, the museum tour route will be subject to changes.

Closed halls

Below is the updated list of closed spaces, organised by area. Please refer to the map of the complex.

West Wing

From 14 July 2026,

11. The Tuscans 1200–1500 – Some of the works in the gallery are covered for security reasons.

Leonardo da Vinci’s work Head of a Young Girl, known as ‘La scapiliata’, is on display.

Please note that the entire exhibition route is open to visitors.

Any temporary closure of galleries or covering of artworks is due to restoration work and routine maintenance.

The ongoing works are designed to enhance the visitor experience.
While the works are in progress, the visitor route will be subject to changes and restrictions to ensure visitor safety.*
The artefacts displayed in the areas affected by the works have been secured to ensure their protection and preservation.
