The Museo Bodoniano Foundation, in collaboration with the Monumental Complex of the Pilotta, organises the presentation of André Beuchat’s volume Premendo Exprimit (Paris, Lelivredart, 2024), which brings together 35 years of his engraving work (1988-2023).
This 200-page monograph – bilingual (French/Italian) – offers the opportunity to follow the work of an artist who combines his love of literature and typographic research with his mastery of the art of engraving. The selection of works is accompanied by texts by four authors – Tiziana D’Acchille, Jean-Louis Vidal, Gabriella Pace and Joëlle Hauzeur. Their exhaustive analyses make this book a reference work.
The meeting will be introduced by Paola Cirani, Director of the Palatine Library, and Manuela Bartolotti, art historian and journalist, will dialogue with the author.
The author
André Beuchat is an engraver of Swiss origin. He has exhibited regularly in Italy and abroad during his more than 30 years of activity. His chalcographic corpus today consists of more than 800 engraved branches and his works can be found in numerous public and private collections all over the world.
Beuchat owns the Alma Charta atelier, based in the Parma countryside, in Toccalmatto, near Fontanellato. Here, the artist masterfully practices both the art of chalcography and letterpress printing, which he personally realises using lead and wooden typefaces. Alma Charta publishes precious books in an ideal symbiosis of engravings and texts by ancient and contemporary authors.
