Starting on 17th February, Maria Callani’s Autoritratto (Self-portrait), inv. 614, and Giuseppe Baldrighi’s Autoritratto con la moglie (Self-portrait with his wife), inv. 701, will be on loan to the San Domenico Civic Museum in Forlì for the exhibition Il Ritratto dell’Artista. Nello specchio di Narciso. Il volto, la maschera, il selfie, from 23 February to 29 June 2025.
The exhibition, curated by Cristina Acidini, Fernando Mazzocca, Francesco Parisi and Paola Refice, the Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì and the San Domenico Civic Museum, is entirely dedicated to the artist’s self-portrait from antiquity to the present day.
Through the self-portrait, a transversal theme in the history of art, the artist affirms his own existence, either by lending his face as a model for his artwork, or by making his copy the mirror of his inner world.
