The first records of an Apothecary within the Benedictine Complex of Saint John the Evangelis date back to 1201 but a pharmacy probably already existed at the time of the foundation of the monastery (980 AD).
The visit will retrace the history of this fascinating place through the rooms of the exhibition route, recently restored and reopened to the public, where is still possible to admire the ancient laboratory and a rich set of alembics, retorts, vases and albarellos, once used by the monks for the preparation of medicamenta.
