The author will present his book, the fruit of years of study and research, which analyzes, in the first part, the musical environment in which Verdi worked and, in the second, the works of the Maestro.
The study aims to revolutionize the understanding of the performance of Verdi’s works, revealing previously unpublished details on the requests that Giuseppe Verdi addressed to his singers, even going so far as to rethink the very concept of “Verdi’s voice”. It is a meticulous and rigorous investigation, never attempted before, which also appears as a fascinating journey destined to capture both professional musicians, in search of new perspectives on the Maestro’s work, and the many enthusiasts eager to deepen their knowledge of Verdi’s opera.
On this occasion, Dr. Paola Cirani, director of the Palatina Library, will show a Verdi manuscript that is part of the Institute’s collections.
