Starting from the wanderings of Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, who arrived in the duchy of Philip of Bourbon and was a rare exception for a violin maker employed directly by an eighteenth-century court, the conference will touch on the foundation of the School of Parma, the first modern institution dedicated to violin making to be opened in Italy thanks to Gaetano and Pietro Sgarabotto, and finally arrive at Renato Scrollavezza, continuator of this tradition and whose visionary legacy was realized in the recent donation to the Casa del Suono.
Parallel human and artistic events which, starting from modest origins and through anarchic life paths, end up dialoguing with power and expressing the same ideal of classicism in new forms.
