Also this year the Pilotta Monumental Complex is participating in M’illumino di meno 2024 – National Day of Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles, conceived and promoted by Rai Radio2 with the Caterpillar broadcast.

In 2005, the Caterpillar program had the idea of inviting its listeners to turn off all non-essential lights as a gesture of care for the environment. With the law of 27 April 2022, n. 34 (conversion into law, with amendments, of the decree-law of 1 March 2022, n. 17), the Parliament established the National Day of Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles, which is celebrated on 16 February, the day the Kyoto Protocol came into force, “in order to promote the culture of energy saving and saving resources by reducing waste, implementing sharing actions and spreading sustainable lifestyles”.

On Friday 16 February 2024 the Pilotta Monumental Complex will join the initiative by turning off the light installation by Maurizio Nannucci in Piazzale San Pietro Martire from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

The Ministry of Culture adheres to the initiative by turning off the lights in the offices, common areas and all energy sources at the Ministry’s headquarters in via del Collegio Romano 27, Rome from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The list of the Ministry’s offices, museums, archaeological parks and state cultural sites throughout Italy that adhere to the initiative can be found here.
