The event

Great satisfaction from the director of the Monumental Complex of the Pilotta Simone Verde for the nomination of Parma as Italian Capital of Culture for the year 2020. An important result, the fruit of teamwork that saw the main cultural, entrepreneurial, and economic realities of the territory united together for a common goal.

«The Pilotta is proud to be part of the promotion committee and to have participated in a major project that will contribute to the overall revitalization of the city and the territory, restoring to Parma that role of great capital that it has already had in the past, a cultural vocation that will allow it to also enhance the great tourist and economic potential in a wider international circuit.
Today’s victory is the first result of the work done so far but there is still much to do. For our part, we will not back down and will continue alongside the other city institutions in the commitment already undertaken to make the Pilotta an increasingly lively, open and participatory cultural space.
While work continues on the redevelopment of the external and internal spaces of the Complex, work is underway on a revision of the exhibition project with important new installations whose results will be presented shortly.
Numerous initiatives are planned to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Teatro Farnese, an important birthday that will see the main musical and theatrical institutions of the city gathered around the Pilotta.
Finally, there will be no shortage of exhibition projects aimed at further enhancing the Pilotta’s rich collection heritage, also in view of achieving the objectives of Parma 2020, the year in which the Pilotta proposed a major exhibition on the global history of Italian art.”
